What do you get when you mix WWE Superstars with Halloween horror? Netflix is showing us with the first look at their new interactive film, Escape The Undertaker, starring WWE team The New Day facing off against the evil wrath of wrestling legend The Undertaker. Just in time for the spooky season, the movie premieres Friday, October 5.
“In this interactive film featuring WWE Superstars, The Undertaker has set a trap for the decorated tag team The New Day at his mansion. What they don’t know: The Undertaker’s mansion is an extreme Haunted House, packed to the brim with supernatural challenges,” reads Netflix’s description. “It’s up to viewers to decide the fate of these three poor souls trying to survive the wrath of The Undertaker.”
“I’ve spent a lifetime studying the dark arts and uncovered many unnatural forces. But none compare to the urn’s powers,” says The Undertaker in the trailer. When The New Day comes asking to use the magical urn for the power of positivity, they are let inside, at their own risk.
In an interactive format, viewers will be able to choose the team’s journey to possess the urn and escape the Undertaker’s grasp. “If you want the urn, you’re gonna have to go through me,” he warns the team.
The interactive format is unique to the streaming service’s content, and follows in the footsteps of previous interactive specials for Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Black Mirror, and more. Viewers are given several choices to take the story in different directions, and the results are seemingly endless.
Directed and executive produced by Ben Simms, the film’s executive producers include Ben Silverman, Howard T. Owens, Drew Buckley, Susan Levison, Ben Zierten, Rob Buchta, and Liz Schulze.
As The Undertaker says, “The choice is yours.”
