ABC is heading back to Lanford for the 2022-23 television season. To no surprise, the alphabet network has renewed The Conners TV show for a fifth season. The fourth season’s finale airs next Wednesday, May 18th.

A family comedy series, The Conners stars John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson, Michael Fishman, Emma Kenney, Ames McNamara, Jayden Rey, and Jay R. Ferguson. Guest stars in season four include Katey Sagal, Nat Faxon, Darien Sills-Evans, Patton Oswalt, Candice Bergen, Brian Austin Green, and Jason Alexander. Picking up where the revival of the Roseanne sitcom left off, this series follows the extended working-class Conner family that’s led by widower Dan Conner (Goodman) and his three adult children — Becky (Goranson), Darlene (Gilbert), and D.J. (Fishman) — as well as sister-in-law, Jackie Harris (Metcalf). Season four finds the Conner family continuing to grapple with parenthood, dating, financial pressures, and aging in working-class America. Through it all — the fights, the coupon cutting, the hand-me-downs, the breakdowns — with love, humor and perseverance, the family prevails.

Airing on Wednesday nights, the fourth season of The Conners averages a 0.50 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.17 million viewers. Compared to season three, that’s down by 19% in the demo and down by 14% in viewership in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). It’s one of the higher-ranking performers when compared to ABC’s other scripted shows. In the live+7 day ratings (which includes delayed viewing), the series averages a 0.80 demo and 4.84 million viewers.

A launch date for season five will be announced this summer. Today, ABC also renewed America’s Funniest Home Videos (season 33), American Idol (season 21), The Bachelor (season 27), Big Sky (season three), Celebrity Wheel of Fortune (season three), Home Economics (season three), A Million Little Things (season five), Shark Tank (season 14), and The Wonder Years (season two).
